Because we create bespoke products for our clients, budgets vary from production to production. Typically prices for a complete production start from £950. If you want to get an idea of costs then contact our team and we will be happy to give you a price guide specific to your needs. You’re under no obligation, and we can also let you know about special offers and deals we have on throughout the year!
Is a three minute video more expensive than a ten minute one?
Contrary to popular belief, the cost of a video is not proportional to the length of it. Factors that are more likely to affect the cost of a video are things like number of locations, if there are actors or voice artists needed and any complex motion graphics or animations to be included.
Do I need to know anything about making videos?
No. We will walk you through the process explaining every aspect of it in plain language and answering any question you have on the way.
Can my video go on DVD and on the Internet?
Yes. We recommend that you let us know in the planning stage of production where you intend to screen your video, as it may affect the way in which the video is made.
But a video online is the same as a video on DVD?
Yes and no! You may not know it, but videos made for the web are slightly different in the way that they are made, than, say for example, videos for viewing on DVD. People react to viewing videos online differently to viewing videos on DVD, TV or any other way. These tiny differences are what makes a video truly effective at getting the viewer engaged and ultimately getting your message across.
How long does it take?
Time scales for videos vary according to what you want. Typically we try and keep our production schedules to around six weeks - though sometimes it’s as little as six days and sometimes it as long as six months.
How much time do I need to give to you during the production process?
As much time as you can spare. Some clients want to be heavily involved in the creation of a piece, others want to give us a script and let us get on with it. Whatever you choose we will always make sure that you know what we are doing, and let you have regular updates on the progress of your work.
Do you have any geographical limitations?
No. From Bradford, Bognor Regis or Brazil - we will travel to any location you might need us to in order to create your piece.
Who owns the copyright of the videos?
Normally Shoot Productions retains the copyright for all productions it creates, but we are willing to sell the copyrights to our clients for a nominal fee.
What equipment do you use?
The kit we use depends on the intended purpose of the finished piece. We shoot using wide range of broadcast standard formats, including Digitbeta, HD, DVcam and even film. In post production we use Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or Avid. As standard we film in a HD (high definition) format in 16:9 (widescreen) aspect ratio. We have in-house editing and graphics suites, with the latest hardware and software installed. If you want more information or technical specifications please ask!
In your quote you referred to writing a “treatment”. What is that?
A treatment is a document that we write for our clients which is the backbone of any production. A treatment outlines what style the video is going to shot in, what your key message and concepts are, and how these are to be expressed in the video.
If you have a script then we will develop a written storyboard for you, so you will know what we are filming and have a good idea of what the video will look like at the end. This will be submitted with the treatment for you to review before we start filming.
It is really important that you read the treatment thoroughly, and if there are any sections in it which you are not sure about or don’t understand then contact any member of our production team and we will be happy to go it with you.
Can Shoot Productions provide just a film crew for the day?
Yes, we can provide any aspect of our services, such as a camera operator or sound technician for any period of time provide you with the raw footage at the end of the filming.
Can you edit footage we already have?
Yes. Shoot Productions can take your existing footage and edit it for you. We can either edit existing footage into a new piece or integrate it into any new footage we film for you.
Can I use famous music?
In most circumstances yes you can. If you wish to use a specific piece of music, such as a pop song or a famous theme then Shoot Productions will be able to seek a licence for the use of the music from the copyright holder. Using a famous piece can be expensive as the copyright holder has the right to charge royalties for the use of it.
What about other music?
Shoot Productions has a wide library of royalty free music which can be used in your productions. If you are looking for something really special then why not get something composed specifically for you? For as little as £800 we can have music specifically composed for you, in the style of whatever music you want!
