Shoot Productions have succeeded in winning one of the six 2008 commissions for Screen Yorkshire’s Short Film Scheme, Caught Short.
This Way Up is a heart breaking story of a seven-year old boy, Jason, who posts himself to Heaven in the hope of being reunited with his dead mother. Following Jason, the drama travels back in time to the last few days of his life with his mum, and tells a story of love, loss and hope as he travels from Yorkshire to ‘Heaven’ in a cardboard box.
This Way Up was written by the award-winning Oliver Emanuel, and will be directed by the acclaimed new director, Sarah Punshon. Shoot Productions’ RTS award winning producer Sarah Senior and will be producing the film.
Sarah Punshon has previously directed well known TV series including EastEnders, Doctors, & Emmerdale and numerous theatre productions across the UK. Sarah was nominated by the BBC as one of the 2007 ‘hot shot’ new directors by the Broadcast Magazine.
Oliver Emanuel’s work has been broadcast on Radio 4 and BBC Radio 7, and has also penned numerous plays touring throughout the UK.
The film goes into production in January 2008 with filming taking place near Leeds in April 2008.
